Hello All,
We have a customer whose LAN we take care of. They have been hit by some different Spyware etc and are now interested in having us install some protection.
What might you recommend that will ideally handle both AV and Spyware? Their LAN is Win2K SBS with 10 worksations (95-XP) but the gateway is a Zyxel Zywall 10 (i.e. net access does not come through the server). :D

Spybot and ad aware are the first things that come to mind.

Can't say I know of one program...But if you can settle with two separate
Spybot S&D - http://safer-networking.org/en/index.html
Kaspersky - http://kaspersky.com/
I've been using both programs for over a year now, Never had one bit of trouble.
But if my memory serves me right, I believe Nortan Anti-virus may take care of some spyware.

Consider also installing spyware blocking software:
* SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
* IE-SPYAD https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/ww...rce.htm#IESPYAD
* Blocking Unwanted Parasites using HOSTS file http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
AND consider using Mozilla or Firefox for a web browser rather than IE if possible.
Check out this AO link where Soda posts some good info: http://www.antionline.com/showthread...&postid=768912

I have seen that mcafee products have also anti spyware included. You should check that too.

I would also recomend to them to use Mozilla's FireFox browser insteasd of IE or what ever thay use now.

A pop-up blocker should be needed as well. A lot of spyware downloads itself from pop-up windows, which an exposed browser can permit to execute.

Ya, basically try what a couple people have suggested.
Spybot: Search and Destroy
Ad-Aware
Spyware Blaster (This prevents spyware from installing in the first place.)
These are all free for personal use.
Also, using another browser besides IE has helped me quite a bit on cutting down on my Spyware. I would recommend either Mozilla or Firefox. They are both quite good and free. Good luck.
Regards,
Xierox
/edit - Sorry, everyone, I just noticed this was for a company, most likely not personal use. In that case, I don't believe that Spyware would be usable, I *believe* it's only for personal use, but I'd have to double-check. I'm not sure about Spyware Blaster. I'm going to leave the links up, though, just for anyone who might be having a problem with Spyware.

I don't know of a good enterprise solution to both spyware and viruses. A combination like has been listed above would probqably be your best bet.
Spybot S&D doesn't offer an enterprise solution either, but AdAware by Lavasoft does.
