Well there's a new type of wireless service out there which will give broadband companies much greater access to areas where adding lines on the ground would cost too much. Its called Wi-Max, and it can offer up to a 30 mile range, with a signal strength of up to 5mb/s. It has been implemented in a few places I believe, as a try. It will offer secure connections and public access to the internet for short periods of time. I think they might even start selling access to it...I.E. $5 dollars for 10 hours of access. It might become implemented more publicly towards the end of 2005 at least vendors hope so. Its also believed that it will significantly lower costs of broadband access. The only issue now, the FCC needs to change its spectrum policies about the 2.5 GHZ band.Quote:
