I got a windows error when I tried to open something saying "Oops...the system was unable to perform the operation. Please try again later." Doesn't sound like Microsoft's dry professionalism...but it was in a windows error box.

atleast you had a error box saying system was unable to perform action, please try again later , here i have latest service pack and then boom! a failed CD-RW drive and that too with no error report , what to do? this word professionalism is really buggin me off from lst two days.
I'm sorry for my language but i'm really tired and irritated with my box. sorry guys.
It's funny how many threads are named "wtf" .....
Keezel-
What were you trying to open?
when you tried that, are your system very busy, i.e. a lot of stuff running ?
My system wasn't busy at the time, and I was actually opening gmail....or surfing to gmail. W/e. It could be something programmed by google but the fact that it was in a windows error box instead of in the web page saying something like "server too busy" totally threw me off. It's happened 3 times now though...
then it was gmail that did the message. not windows. it just looked like one from windows.
so i dont think you should worry, the connection probably just timed out.
