PII-PV equivs.
"i" means "Intel", the processor manufacturer.
"586" means 80586, which is the family of processor types............Pentium I/II as far as I recall, the "686" is a P3/4 I think.

so what if my CPU is Xeon?
There is proabably a distro for dual cpu.. I'm not really sure... never used a dual proc.
Sorry mate, I mislead you slightly:
586 is the Pentium I
686 is PII and PIII
786 is P4
The Xeon processor is a PIII family, so it will be a "686"
