No. It would need to be for Compaq type PCs might work on Hewlett Packard havent tried it though.
Well, with my minimal experience (living on college grounds, lots of people are CONSTANTLY asking for somone or anothers restore disk) i think that it should work with other models of Compaqs, but im not sure if it would work on say, a dell or a gateway, or just a hodgepodge homemade machine...but, as always, im probably wrong, hence why im here to learn :-)

How would the CD recognize a Compaq?

1. A "software pirate" would not have such a disk. They would have a standard OEM builder's copy. They will work on any hardware, as they are designed for computers you build yourself. A pirate would have no use for make/model specific software.
2. The fact that it is a Compaq Quick Restore disk implies that it is a disk that will restore that particular model to its ex-factory state. This means that is not likely to run on another make or model, and will check for that when you load it. Drivers etc. could well be a problem, for example.
Typically, this can cause problems if you try to upgrade the hardware, then re-install XP :(
My advice would be to go and buy a legitimate copy ;)
