no i kinda havea cd of 5.3 which i downloaded form the net. and made some bootable floppiesand now the error
hmmm.... How did you set your partitions? Did the OS install with errors or did it not install at all? and are running dual harddrives or are you dual booting with more than one OS and if So which and show the partition space for each or if there is one?
also if it is farely new and your PC isnot the error just may be something that is uncampatible.
I also found this hopefully it may help you i only slightly understand or i would help you there sorry about that one.
reply back ASAP and i do my best to help i ask around too, to my friends.
2 possibilities:
1) "old" harddrive (ata33) using an 80pin IDE cable on a >ata66 controller.
2) "new" harddrive (>ata66) using an "old" 40pin cable on a >ata66 controller.
I think it's probably option 2.
Most modern mainboards have a ata100 or ata133 IDE controller. These are backwards compatible with "older" harddisks but you have to match the cable and the drive.
Which types of harddisk and mainboard are you using?
"jr05linux"thanx for your intrest ,lemme answer your questin one by one
