Can't get NAT to work right (venturing into uncharted territory)
Hi,
It's been awhile since my last post and a lot of things have changed. I moved in with my girlfriend and found myself in a networking situation. MY problem is that im trying to get my home network up and running and i seem to have come to an stand still.
The Info:
Network:
Imac G5 (my computer) ip from isp
P3 running WinXP Pro (girlfriends computer and fileserver) ip from isp
Moded Xbox with media server ip thrue dhcp from router
The router is a roadrunner 44, that should be capable of NAT
The problem
As you probably guessed from my explanation of the network the computers are on difrrent networks, i can't get my xbox to see my network shares and so on. Now I can get my router to recieve an ip from the isp 62.x.x.x and get the computers (imac,p3,xbox) to recieve an ip from the router 10.x.x.x but i cant get the computer to accsess the internet
OR
I can get the computers to receive an ip from the ISP 62.x.x.x and be abale to acsess the internet. This sadly does not allow the to be on the same network as i would like.
Questions
How can i get all the computers on the same network while still having acsess to the net?
Do i have to buy additional hardware?
at the moment I'm using google and reading up on dhcp, tcp/ip and NAT. I hope someone can help.
On a sidenote Merry christmas (i know I'm late but anyhow)
