Could be due to MSN servers being overloaded by the new bropia variant. That's what I'm telling the kids here 'cause I want to go home. :D
I'm getting the same damn error... I would take a wild guess it's on MSN's end and not ours.
It's them, not you :p
http://messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx?product=wm (you can get there by clicking Help, then .NET service status, btw)
Also hey, too :D

I get a runtime error when I go to that service status page, I tried that when it first didn't let me sign in. I'm running FF, I haven't tried going there in IE.
[edit: just checked IE, nothing there either, here's a screen showing what it's giving me]
Try this one instead: http://support.msn.com/networkstatus...oductLocId=458

When I tried it, it took me to a page saying that everything is down - with a link to that runtime error page. Now it indeed takes me to that runtime error page immediately. The entire messenger.msn.com seems to be down.
That one worked :DQuote:

The latest outage comes days after security monitors discovered the Bropia worm was using MSN Messenger to spread. The Microsoft spokeswoman denied the outage was caused by the worm.
