Needhelp: Reformatting
Is there a way to reformat a [Dell] computer without directly accessing the CD?
I mean, I know I need it for OS installation but is there a way to wipe out the C: entirely, then boot it up with the installation disk?
I've heard of format C: but I don't know how it works or what a volume label is.

Hit up your ms-dos prompt and type Format C:/
Then it'll say are you sure, press Y or Yes. That's pretty much it.

Well :
s/he hasn't come back .................
So it must have worked :)

Err,
Foxy~, I would have urged a bit of caution if it is a recent Dell?
You may not be able to boot and re-install from the CD they give you these days? I know that there would be no problems with the two Dells that I have, but they are old style and I have a full MS CD with each.
Not hearing could also mean that they are now dead?
What they are asking seems perfectly legitimate, but why want to do it? I mean there was no question as to what the problem was that this action was supposed to solve............also, no question as to what version of Windows?
Hey, I know that I am paranoid, but that is partly because I have become accustomed to people coming to me with solutions rather than problems? Hell, if they know the solution, they know how to do it..don't they :D

nihil: I think the problem has been solved ala what foxy said. :D
