Make light if you will, but some of us take the passing of James Doohan pretty seriously. His (admittedly faked) Scot accent and boisterous character added some very interesting spice indeed to Trek.
He died from complications due to Alzheimers combined with Pneumonia - or so I heard on the news this morning.
He will be missed.
