I read a similar article in one of our papers here in NYC. I listen to a lot of talk radio and audio books through the day. My question is, is speech just as damaging to the ears as music? I'm sure that the damage differs between listening to "Napalm Death" and Sinatra but isn't just plain speech on the bottom of damage list.
probably depends on the amplitude and frequency of the speech. Me yelling in your ear is going to be more damaging than whispering to you from across the room. Same thing with Napalm Death.
If your ears whistle after listening to anything, you've damaged them :jams:
When I'm in the train, I usualy have my MP3 player on..
Not to get rid of the noise, just for a nice mellow tune..
A lot of other people have their MP3 Player blasting so loud I can hear the beat of their tune-of-choise over my own music even though I'm wearing earplugs and so are they..
How loud do they have their thingies set ??
I can pop the (Philips brand) plugs (not player though, Philips MP3 Players suck ass) out of my ears and hear NOTHING at all of what I was listening to..
I listen to Opie & Anthony and also to XM O&A. I don't think, "THAT" can damage my ears ... maybe pollute my mind.
anything can damage your hearing...if its loud enough ;)
Some hearing damage can reverse.....others are permenant.
Friend of mine who was a drummer had to quit playing because his hearing was being damaged and became irreversable....to the point of deafness
This was right after his band was signed with a record deal....
