This one i think we should all have and is very usefull to me..http://www.sisoftware.net/
sisoftware? Sandra? Cool name. :D Interesting tool but I just wonder if you really need it since a lot of information about your Windows system can be accessed through the Windows Machine Instrumentation. Then again, the use of WMI requires some scripting/programming knowledge and just doesn't look cool.
But I'm an amateur hobby-developer so when I need a tool, I just write it myself. :D (To throw it away once I don't need it anymore...)
<edit>You might want to look at http://www.portablefreeware.com/all.php though. :D </edit>
The idea behind Sandra is that its already developed, and is automated. Why reinvent the wheel. Yes, you can write a program to do this using WMI, but.. low and behold one already exists... Sandra.Quote:

That's one of the reasons why I enjoy Gentoo Linux so much. It's easy to actually find a tool.. As long as it's in the portage tree, of course; but the tree is growing every day.
For Gentoo, specifically: eix, esearch, gentoolkit, bash-completion, bash-completion-config.
In general.. strace and gdb.. And just search the portage tree for whatever else you need, really.
If you don't use Gentoo, well, there's always sourceforge.net and freshmeat.net :)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx Powertoys for XP. Not really all that helpful, but they all do a little bit. Convience is the name of the game.
