AOL-Active Security Monitor

hi,

installed the latest version of AOL-Active Security Monitor.

the problem is, despite running a firewall and an up to date enterprise version of the same company, it logged my firewall score as poor, the antivirus score as fair and an overall score of 57 (good)

thinking of just unstalling this software!

Following information should help us :

Which anti-virus do you use, when was the last time you updated it.

Which Firewall do you use, when was the last time you update it too.

Which OS do you use and is it patched up.

lastly I think you can un-install AOL's security monitor..

I use McAfee Firewall and also its antivirus solution. the antivirus dats were updated 30 mins ago.

OS is XP (Prof)

This report status has not changed, even after i rebooted the firewall or updated the antivirus.

Firewall is working fine and got a it verified from symantec security check and works fine.

However logic says i should get a second opinion, but unaware of any other site offering simulated firewall attack testing.

I really dont trust Mcafee.. But thats just me.. Just do an online scan at housecall and get back to us.. I dont think that score should borther you.. Its by AOL :p

You didn't answer this one : is the OS fully patched..

hmmm...i have been contemplating switching to zonealarm (free). Although i've not ahad any problems with McAfee till now. Seems to be blocking some syn port scan attacks and port scan attacks. But then again doesnt mean it's quite healthy.

Uninstalled the AOL thingy.

OS is patched upto July 2006 Autopatcher.

It's 2.42 a.m. infact :D and being a owl and being all alone (wifey in some other city) and being a holiday tomorrow..well...

Because what might be hapening over here is that the 2 different firewall or antivirus must be conflicting each other.

I'm not sure if AOL provides Mcafee firewall, even if it does why would it matter ? Apart from that he's from India, they dont have AOL here.

Er...you may be actually confused :p

The AOL thingy was standalone and was not a part of my McAfee bundle.
There is the windows firewall, but ofcourse it is disabled.
There is no other antivirus, however there are programs like spybot, ad aware and stinger and as far as i know they don't have any known conflicts among each other.

Both (Firewall and Anti-Virus) were active and also tested them via www.pcflank.com (as wisely suggested by ByTeWrangler) and the results were good enough. The firewall passed the test.
