when you subscribe to a thread, it emails you everytime someone replies to it.
You can always go to your User CP and unsubscribe from threads.
Depends on your settings in your userCP. If you have auto-subscribe selected with instant email, then you'll get an email for the 1st new post made to the thread. You can also disable the email, and see all the threads you've recently posted in, in your userCP. Or you can select daily email, instead of instant.
