That is a pretty interesting approach from the FSF.

That would kind of suck though. I've seen some projects from novell that I actually like... Off the top of my head, YAST, ximian connector, and app armor are some that I like.

I've really come to like the SuSE distro and replaced my Fedora installs at home with SuSE. I'm still using Fedora at work though.

This is the type of thing that would make Gore cry! ;)

Personally, I think mixed Linux-Windows environments are great
and have a lot of potential. But Microsoft's too big, and even
the Feds won't move against them, even though Judge Jackson's
original ruling that they constitituted a monopoly has stood. If
FSF doesn't stand up to MS, who will?

I'm a big open source supporter... but this makes the FSF look childish.... They look like the kid that says "If I can't have all the good players I'm going to take my ball so you can't play"... I still stand by my opinion that the Microsoft/Novell agreement is a great agreement for all parties involved... Novell is a huge contributor to the open source community and has done a lot for it.... and now the FSF wants to penalize them... It's not a smart move and I think it's going to end badly for the FSF...

I think the jury's still out on what kind of a deal it is for all the
ass't parties involved. No doubt Novell, and SUSE, have added
to the open source comm. But it's a much better deal for MS
than for the Linux community as a whole considering the scope
of software patenting that's going on...

They say all is fair in love and war. I find it a relief FSF is standing
up against this deal. Childish? Nahhhh...I think a lot rides on this
one.
