Tech Magazines

Hey everyone, I've been looking into tech magazines, and wasn't sure which I should subscribe to. I already get PC World, which is pretty good. I've been looking into Wired magazine and a few others. So what I'm really asking is what magazines do you read, what do you think of them, and what types of content they are mainly putting in their magazine. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I currently subscribe to Discover (my personal favorite - not IT-oriented, but plenty of excellent science articles) and Wired (always fun to read) - when it comes to tech magazines, that is (I think I've got 10 subscriptions all together... I can't help myself when they only charge $20 or so for 2 years!).

Wired is my preference... Something I have noticed about computer magazines is they have less "off base" advertisements than most magazines =)

yea, I also get popular mechanics, which is also not security based, but does have some articles pertaining to computers, like building media servers and things like that.

2600 is the only tech magazine I have ever read. I find the majority of tech magazines including PC World are outdated by the time they hit the shelf.

Google.com will find more information then what most of these tech magazines have to offer.

Having said that, Discover and Wired are very innovative and cover some very interesting topics.

I have been looking at the 2600 Mag online for sometime now. Is it worth me getting it shipped out here to me in SA or just stick with the online googling it. I enjoy reading a mag because you pick up things you wouldnt have thought of , therefore wouldnt have googled it.

I personally like hard copies of magazines and books (although I suppose you could print out the online version)

I also like to support the author, if the content is good. That is why I've had a subscription for a long time now.

You may want to consider a subscription Cider. I don't think it will cost anything extra to have it shipped to South Africa.

I googled it and found a $50 subscription and like $ 10 for shipping. When I get paid ill check the finances and see if I can squeeze this in :P

All 2600 has ever done is perpetuate articles that have already made news and announce things I'd never attend. I always hated how they're geared towards internet hipsters. To me, 2600 is to computers, what rap magazines are to music. Do you understand what im getting at here? Hah :)

Now I've always liked Popular Mechanics though.
