Not cool at all

This past weekend, i went to a thriller forest called trip to hell. It's supposed to put you in real life situations because God and jesus want you to do the right thing. Some of the scenes were internet meeting turned into date rape, drunk driving accident, sexual molestation. Some weren't too bad. At one point, our group was in a building w/ a "fortune teller"(thats who she played)and a plainclothes man came in. He said there was an emergency and we had to stay in the building. Some group leaders came in and took off their masks to make it seem more like a real emergency. Shortly after that, all the lights went out and a man came in and it sounded like he was firing shots. It was all dfake, to show how easily it could happen. But there were young children in the group. they were all in hysterics. As soon as the "shots" were fired, people were screaming and hitting the floor. Because of the recent sniper events, that scene should never have taken place. there was another scene, of a girl getting an abortion. That is wrong any way and should not have been available to young children to see. I am appalled by this. What do you think?

I think that it was not at all a secure situation and that anyone could of breached thier server. What does this have to do with security?

As for the thriller forest, did they have a disclaimer as to the content of their scenes? If so then you were properly informed and entered at your own risk. If you were not given a disclaimer then there could be some liability issues. But anything that is called a trip to hell can't be expected to be a walk in a serene park.

I have never heard of a "Thriller Forest" so I am unclear on what that is. Just to clarify is this a commercial enterprise? Is it a Church affiliated thing (you mentioned it was because God wants us to make the right decision)? I am unclear on what was going on or what the intent was.

However, most of the situations you mentioned, while real life, are uncommon real life. Did they simulate someone offering kids drugs. Simulate peer pressure to drink, have sex, etc. Did they force your kid to sit in a cubicle for eight hours without seeing the sunlight :D Did you have to choose between honestly returning the $1 extra the cashier gave you or walking off with it. Choosing what to do with a juicy piece of gossip you overheard. The real life situations we face and make the difference between whether we act honestly or not. Whether we choose what is good or give into pressure. Hopefully none of us ever faces snipers but some drummed up scare tactic would not help me deal with it then any more than I am ready to now. A good self defence class might though.

I can understand young kids being scared by the sniper incidents and what the media
in the US has made out of it, but explain why abortion is "wrong anyway"?

What in the hell is thread about? At first, I thought I knew. 1pizzaluvr4u was talking about a "Thriller Forest". Granted, I have no idea what a "Thriller Forest" is, but I'm assuming it's some sort of haunted house thing. Then d0m1n10n starts talking about server security. Where did that come from? zaggy responded to that post, though, and I was feeling okay with the thread again until I ran across carbonlifeform's post about abortion. I'm lost again. Did someone mention abortion? I seem to be experiencing some sort of "temporal posting rift". If someone would mind filling in my time gaps, I'd greatly appreciate it.

That's whats wrong with society nowadays, there worried about crap that has nothing to do with nothing. Come on, people you know that is it suppose to be scary, and nowadays, people dont get scared on ghosts anymore. They have provide something worse, so your offended, dont go again. Thats whats wrong, people always complaining when something they dont agree with.

What I want to know is what happends when the Ole Viet Nam vet who suffered shell shock and is packing heat but takes his family to that event?

What would have been really scarry is someone form the audience was carrying a gun and had started to shoot back at the pseudo sniper! Did they say to leave weapons at the door when you joined? If someone had started shooting at me and I had a gun on me, you can be sure I would have shot back...

I've heard of these "thriller forests", and to tell you the truth, they disgust me. Trying to tell children that "this" is what God wants them to do in "such-and-such" situation, really now. And that if they did other wise than what was instructed, then they may go to hell. Who are they to tell anyone they are going to hell? Did these people get the message they are relating to the kids straight from God, first hand? No, they didn't, and I wish people would not try and speak for "God" (who ever God may be to you).

These are just people trying to scare kids and teens into believing in God. Being scared into religion is wrong, one should come to it willingly, not out of fear.

The problems I had were the explicit scenes they showed. There was no disclaimer, except what the workers always say at a haunted house or other scary event: Enter At Your Own Risk. My thread has nothing to do with being scared. I think there should have been less explicit scenes. How would you feel if you were in a haunted house type thing and unknowingly there was a simulated abortion? I had no idea about the simulated abortion and then watching it was terrible! I know most of you are probably thinking, well don't watch it then. But it's very difficult not to. The actress getting the "abortion" was a very good actress....her horrified screams of agony sounded so real...I just think that the whole scaring people thing has gone way out of control and this type of place should be shut down, or at least toned down. It was a church sponsored event, I only went for the scare. I ended up with more than I bargained for.

I'll tell you from experience, you don't scream during an abortion, you scream giving birth. Perhaps the actress is a mother.

I don't think people should be scared into believing in God either, and it's possible some of these "thriller forests" push the envelope a little too much. I've never been to one though. But then again, our actions do have consequences. I think one of Satan's tatics is to try to make us think that sin is no big deal. For example, Satan tries to pass off adultery and fornication as fun, but without showing people the consequences such broken marriages and sexual transmitted diseases such as AIDs. Abortion becomes "making a choice" instead of "ending a life." Satan always presents sin as fun and fulfilling while doing what he can to keep people from thinking of the consequences of their actions.

Being pushed into a religion is a terrible thing. my parents forced me into christianity when i was younger and now i refuse to set foot into a church. the scary forest was sponsored by a church, and i have nothing against christians, just those that try to push religion upon me. i'm happy with who i am and what i've got.

I don't think have a fake sniper was right, depending on location. I do think maybe they should have had a disclaimer, but as for their purpose, I wouldn't agree with it. Basically, what Green Bird said, Who are they to tell someone that if you do this, your going here. That isn't right, and unless they are DIRECT messengers from God (Which they probably aren't) then they shouldn't be doing that. Some people may view situations differently and by accepting children, your setting an example for them and this is when they are learning. This is all JMO, but I don't agree with their purpose.

People like scary stories. There's no reason a church
should not try to combine a little of their moral teaching
with a fun scary experience.

In fact, this kind of entertainment goes back to the middle ages
where they had scary plays about demons and hell etc.

Without a little scare once in a while, life would be dull.
As for the simulated abortion, at least the weren't having
the real thing.

I think that with the way the world is today, the amounts of violence on TV, movies, all things the population at large craves, that anything that say "Enter at your own risk", is saying and meaning exactly what it says. You may not have enjoyed the "ride" so to speak but it did say a trip to hell, and as I said before, what can you expect.

If you have a problem with it, complain to your church. Tell them that you think it was too extreme. I agree that it sounds as if they were overacting in some areas, as noted

Guys , let's get realistic here.What does being a kid mean to you?To me it simply means to enjoy learning about life.By this I mean to enjoy riding his bycycle,playing games,eating,exploring etc etc...,and do this without being exposed so early in life to all these ugly issues that are out there.Sure they will be exposed to it at some stage but let them enjoy life while they still can.At least then they should be able to distinguish between bad and good.

At least that is what I think God would want us as parents to do to the fullest of our capability.
Let's protect our children,they are the future of the world to be.I do think we all want the best for our children.

I think what the church is doing, trying to scare children into believing in god, is HORRIBLE!!!
I think that most people believe in god because of attrition anyway, but jeez let the children make their own decisions. If i heard something like this in my area, i would protest it like anything! Im for religion, it does a really good thing for the community, but it shouldnt be forced onto people.
Im in Australia and ive never heard of these scary forest things..........

if it waqs being used t oshow people how fast real situations can occur, im going to say that its a way of showing people how vounerable we really are, which is true. In order to proove that point easly, you would show taht which is the current most real situation there is. its very close to home and will proove your point well. Most likely the peoplet that went threw it (the fake one) went home and thought about something that may have changed there opinions on the sniper and what we are doing to catch him.

I don't see many others complaining about the "utter uselessness" of this thread. If it was so useless, I'd probably have a bunch of negs, when in fact I have a bunch of greenies! Check the Overall AP Status....

do you even read what i write before responding to it?? I didn't say the thread was useless, I said the remaining portion of that post was, the one i quoted right before saying "I like potates". Thats what i did, i quoted a portion of the post, then responded to it, the potatoes remark was an utterly useless reply to an even more useless portion of dialogue.

this thread is going no where good.....but as for the ORIGINAL question, i dont think it was right to show that, but thats just my opinion.

IMHO, I believe that young children shouldn't have been exposed to such horrors, especially at a church event. My question is Was that immoral all together or should the organizers use an age disclaimer?
