AdsGone Popup Killer
I use the Google toolbar on both IE and Firefox. But I use mostly Firefox for browsing.
I use a combination of Mozilla, Outpost Pro firewall, and a sledgehammer. :D
Firefox web browser and Kerio Personal Firewall
I have 73,467 blocked on my Google toolbar and not to mention the other abilities it has other than a pop-up blocker. It is by farmy favorite. I have yet to use it on Firefox though. Any good?
hjack
Google toolbar is the way to go..
I have Opera :p
Mozilla web browser
101 things that the Mozilla browser can do that IE cannot
Google, ZA pro and disable messanger service. Can't remember the last time I saw a pop up.
I don't really know if it stops any popups while using Firefox or not hjack, as Firefox blocks them all any way. I use it mainly for the other features that come with it.Quote:
I got it from the Firefox extension site btw.
Ummmmm, I use IE configured correctly. ;)
Test your pop-up blokers at PopupTest.com
Firefox
firefox with a proxy , whats are ads and popups? ;)
FireFox built in one.
-Cheers-
Hello,
Firefox, Opera, Slim Browser and my Big Dog with sharp teeth.
That PopUpTest site is pretty cool. FireFox doesn't stop the MouseOver PopUp Test... (with or without the Googlebar).
Another one for mozilla firefox here
Has Proxomitron really fallen out of favor this much? I know it's no longer supported, but it's still a great program (IMHO).
I use firefox + proxomitron and IE + zone alarm pro + proxomitron.
I use the ones integrated in Opera and Norton Internet Security
I still use the Proxomitron. For those wondering what it's all about and how to set up the Proxomitron to block ads, I wrote an intro to the Proxomitron.
I haven't seen a popup window since I started using Mozilla... And I use a program called AdFree to block regular ads. The way AdFree works is it has a large list of servers and it blocks ads from those servers. I haven't seen an ad for a long time.
Internet explorer's built in ad pop-up blocking . No need for google, yahoo, or any other 3rd party software.

Pooh, why did you have to ruin the party?Quote:

Down with Microsoft! Down with the Man! :p
And just be the rebel and crash the party...
Yeah? You think you're cool?
Like most of the others - I use my browser's (Galeon) built-in popup blocking feature.
The only thing remotely annoying is that the "Open PM in new window" feature on AO is also blocked by this. But I can still look at my PMs.
Slarty
SPYWARE & ADWARE
SPYWARE & ADWARE pop unders, popovers, etc.. are more annonying than dangerous. Freeware programs like SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard can prevent spyware from being installed on your computer. You can find them here at:
Spyware Blaster
www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Spyware guard
www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html
If you already have spyware installed on your box then you need to download Adware from
www.lavasoft.de and Spybot Seek and destory from www.spybot.safer-networking.de
Disabling certain features like Javascript, and active x can be a huge help. To do this open Internet Explorer click on Tools, Internet Options, click on the security tab, next click on the internet world icon then click the button that says 'custom level,' everything that says active X put the green dot in disable!!! There are 5 different options there. Scroll down and then place the green dots in disable on ths following options scripting, scripting of java applets, disable it. When done go to 'reset to' click on the drop down arrow and set it to 'high'it will prompt you are you sure you want to change these settings click yes. If you don't like the changes you can alaways go to Tools, Internet Options, click on the programs tab, bottom left hand corner theirs a button that says 'reset web settings,' click that hit yes. Changes are made back to normal.
In Mozilla, I get that popup but when I click Ok to view the message it does nothing. But it's good for letting me know when I have a new PM, then I just check my PMs from the main page.Quote:

I use one from ashampoo, I think it is part of their "winoptimizer" suite. I ran that test and it seemed to block everything, but I can still get ones that I want...............well as far as I can tell :)
.... yeah but. I can right click on an annoying add on any page (especially hotmail, A.O. and man others) and say 'Block images from this server' using Mozilla. Sure, you have to do that a few times to get most of the adds, but the next thing you know your looking at a clean web page. I have blocked _all_ of the adds for A.O., and now it is as if I was looking at the site before J.P. sold out to 'the man'. Ka'chingQuote:

- Pooh was talking about pop-up blockers, not about ads.Quote:

- If you block images from a server, you might be missing out on a lot.
- If you don't know how to block all ads (kindly presented to you on AO) with a couple of mouse clicks and keyboards strokes, you don't deserve the right to be looking at a "clean" web page.
- Whether JP sold out or not is up to your imagination, but there's no doubt that JUPM is "the man".
Please don't tell me you are attempting to start an IE versus Mozilla flame war, with an IE version you've never used.Quote:
