Why not do the obvious and talk to the ISP about resetting the password to the account?
We do not hack websites for people, nor crack passwords.

If the friend still has access to there webhost cpanel, then just get them to uninstall the wordpress in fantastico.
then re-install a fresh wordpress and thus they have there blog back.
and make sure that they use a more complex password this time around.

Nice thought Acid~, but I think that he is locked out period.
The usual problem with this sort of nonsense is that people set up an account. They get the password prompt and set something trivial, or even worse identifiable to them:eek:
They answer the password recovery questions honestly :rolleyes:
They trust schoolchums and worplace colleagues............or, incredibly, relatives.
Then they wonder why they get "hacked".............................:D
Yeah, the trouble with being devious with security questions and passwords is the old memory. I set up my halifax online acount not long ago, then promptly got locked out because I couldn't remember what variant I had used on "Name of first school". D'oh!

What is going on? I ask both of the "FIGHTERS" : "If it would have been so easy to 'hack'/'crack' web based applications, the world would have been a hell. This site is not the ONLY place where you could find some TRUE hackers at heart. There are thousands of them... or many be in tens of thousands !!?? Well, even if one knows, there are a lot of technical difficulties he/she may face to do it (well, as far as I am concerned, I do know how to do that).
Its better to start a new blog and tell your bloggers to join the new blog... and thats it? Why fight in THIS FORUM for such a small issue?
guies i dint post here to fight . I like tech and stuff but i am not into it so much like u ppl to be able to hack sites or well even dont know wat all i gota do to prevent it .
I just posted here to tell u ppl the blog is mine and the story about it being hacked is fake . So just don't give a **** bout it and well i was curious to know who the guy is who started the thread which i dint find yet .
ps: if u ppl got any suggestions like stuff to prevent my site from being hacked i would be very thankfull .Coz its lucky that i stumbled across this one I dont have any idea where else that guy has posted for help and stuff and maybe he even gets some :halo:

Well, blooger, Its not easy for him to get help on cracking passwords. Its not a joke to crack upon a web service. The CMS (Content Management System) that are used to handle and display the forums and blogs are secure.
There are two ways to find the vulnerabilities in those CMSes. The first way is to find holes yourself and the second way is to go through the "bugtraq" and understand how a hole works. Again, there are very few holes to 'completely' takeover the CMS upton an extent that he gets to reset the passwords (its not possible to get the password in plaintext).
If the blog is yours and he is trying to get help from others to hack around, do not worry a lot. All you need to secure your blog is to set up strong password (look thgrough the tutorials to learn 'what a strong password is') and to update the CMS (such as wordpress) regularly.

I didn't go read it, or look, mainly because the grammar, spelling and overall head trip of this thread was enough for me, I don't think I'll even need to drink for at least a couple days. Though it probably would help in translation.
If I was so inclined I could probably make some pretty nice cash off the log files on Gaim with other AO members when they're drunk trying to type. Now THAT is funny! (You know who you are! And don't worry your secret is safe with me ;) ). I could call the book "AO: Alcohol Online. A look at drinking in the security field".... Come to think of it Alcohol Online is a pretty good one lol.
