Also, they have found memos showing that Saddam and Bin Laden were tied together. Iraq was providing funding at aid to the terrorist cells. I don't hav a source for it at the moment, but I'll find it tommorrow.

you don't have that evidence, I'm pretty sure you can't show me those memo's... they're either "confident" (so they don't exist, I heard that to often) or they're made by a student on a US high school while playing a dungeons and dragons game and burnt so only two words remained "iraq" and "laden"
the main reason for the iraq war I heard when I was watching the news arround that time was "they have weapons of mass-destruction wich are a potential danger for US citizens"...
I really had enough of political games and confident proof, the US has a reputation of baked air and Bush has a large share of it.

1) Saddam was connected with Bin Laden (fight terrorism)
2) Saddam has Weapons of Mass Destruction (Could not find any so go to next reason)
3) We need to free the Iraqi oil, I mean people....
4) We need to promote democracy in the region.
Bush has given a lot of different reasons for going into Iraq..... ;) Once the American people wise up to one excuse and start calling him on it he changes excuses...
Maybe Bush made a pre-emptive counter move to cut Mr. Bin and his network out of the picture. If they found an anchor or harbor in Iraq and kept it secret for a while, that could have provided a nice command stronghold. The last couple of Osama transmissions have been calling for Iraqis to kill all who oppose Islam and especially Americans. He is very persuasive in using religion and hatred for anything non-Muslim to bend people to his way of thinking. Purely hypothetical strategic thinking though, we probably won't know any real intelligence for a while, unless you are an insider. I have read transcripts from almost everything he’s said since 9/11. It reads like a lot of old C.C.P. propaganda.
Then again maybe Bush and his secretary of state Colin Powell thought Osama was linked to Saddam and maybe they were scared of something. Who knows, it's just as likely that scenario is a real possibility as is a giant plot to make him and his friends richer with wealth or assert a totalitarian regime on the American people and hatch a plan for world domination (assuming he makes it past 2004 ;) )

you are just specuilating on that road, you forget taht binladen's al;quida became an internaitional force because of their opposition and hatred of hussain, more over he was a secular leader in a very modern, secular state in the middel east, he was every thing they hate. Did hussain give mony to terrorists, well yes and no, he did give some money to anti isralie groups, but they where nonfenatical nonreligious groups of terrorist, not the same gorup as the factions of radical islam that we are faceing world wide curently. The fact is if the US had stayed out of golf war one Iraq would be enamy #1 to alquida and not the US, as it was iraq was enamy #2.

Hell yeah, TOTAL speculation. But I am not easily convinced that disparaged groups that operate terrorist cells don’t occasionally unite for the common good and fund one another when it benefits their individual cause. When taking religious compartments out of the picture, their common enemy is non-Muslim humans. You say Al-Qa'ida would attack a Muslim led society over a US western society? I don’t buy it, why wasn’t Baghdad attacked instead of New York? Did they want to weaken Sadam’s hold on the gulf or to weaken the fabric of American Culture? Or are you referring back to the 1st Gulf War?
There are some facts that cannot be disputed, well you can dispute them I guess since no one has come on record to say, and yep it’s all true. But they are generally accepted as viable probabilities in intelligence circles.
Some of the plane members were seen with Iraqi intelligence forces prior to 9/11. One in particular; Mr. Atta, who the US believes was at the controls at the time of impact at the WTC. I think it was Flight 11?
Iraq had very close ties to Sudan after the gulf war; Osama lived there at the time and Sudan and very close ties with Al-Q. Sudan supported Iraq during the Gulf War and established a center for Iraq intelligence at Khartoum by a senior Iraq intelligence officer Abd al Samad al-Ta'ish. Curious enough Al-Q was also based for a time in Khartoum.
The state dept listed seven states that sponsor terrorism. In case everyone forgot they were Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria.
I remember in 1998 when Sadam was demanding UN sanctions be lifted because he stopped making WMD. Oh and if my memory serves the major terrorist activities of Al-Q were while they were stationed in Sudan? Most of The 1998 bombing were carried out while Iraq made a campaign against weapons inspection. Very curious, not conclusive but intelligence is rarely on the mark 100 percent. There are risk factors.
There are hundreds of theories for and against a connection. I merely state it’s just as probable that they thought something was going on, as there are theories that fall into conspiracies that shape the US into an evil empire.
It may sound like I am blindly supporting everything I argue against. But I am trying to figure out where the bad people are and why our government rushed at the opportunity to suddenly smash Sadam. I don’t buy into power and greed of a few individuals as an explanation.
This is a side note, it’s curious that Sadam could full well see the momentum the US gained in Afghanistan. Why didn’t he play his cards a little on the conservative side? What strategic advantage could he have gained by not complying fully with UN sanctions? It puzzles me and is not really directly related to this post but I wonder what the hell he was thinking? It makes me think some of what is reported of Iraq may have been hidden from his view. More wild speculation… after all he couldn’t have had a complete eye on everyone that worked under him?
Well in reading a lot of right wing oped pices especialy stuff generated by the neocons it looks like they wanted to go in and get sadama long before 9/11 and where just looking for an excuse. As for where alqida would side, they considered iraq a western style nation, you had women with freedom and no forced relgion, you also had religious tolerance (out side of intolerance for the curds but that was not a religious thing.)
