As Windows 7 seems to have similar requirements to Vista I would download this from MS and run it in your XP Pro environment:

It will scan your system for compatibility with Vista, so might point out any problems like drivers or hardware that aren't supported.
From what I have heard the Win 7 setup is similar to Vista, and I suspect that Vista drivers will work if the XP ones will not.

So for those of you who have taken the time to try Windows 7, do you think it is worth downloading a beta of it? Do you use it a lot? Is it a chore to use and/or navigate? I'm willing to give microsoft a chance to fix the problems of vista, but does this new windows seem to have the potential to be more than only that? (If you didn't notice, I would like to bring the topic back to windows 7.:D) I thank those who have given their opinion, and appreciate info on the development of your opinions based on continued testing.
Beta is closed as far I know.
Beta will run till August, but MS are not supplying it anymore.
It looks to be an improvement on Vista, but the beta doesn't have the drivers for legacy stuff that Vista does.
For example, it doesn't support this keyboard properly...............I put the wires on that damn goldfish and none of the function keys will launch the bloody torpedoes :xbones:
It will only load over Vista or XP.............I haven't tried it on a new machine..... but it didn't like Win 2000. I had to wipe the drive, load Vista then Win 7.

Yes, that's all mine has. I deliberately chose an older machine to check out potential transition issues with stuff running XP at the moment. From that viewpoint it certainly looks a better prospect than Vista.Quote:
