Personally I think that if a company can give me a $200 rebate vai mail in. They can give it to me right up front. No need to jump through hoops and create a big paper trail.
Sorry about any typos, worked 12 hours in the heat afterwhich I had plenty of fat tire to make it oh so right.
Mail in rebates are just an advertising gimmick that retailers and manufacturers use to encourage sales. Most people never follow up on them...

Well personally, Mail Rebates are just plain annoying and stupid, and should be stopped.

Well lets say you buy a50 CD Pack for 40 $, and it says 20$ in the mail rebate, and the actual 50 CD Pack to them costs 10$ when they order it, so now they order 2 more 50 CD Packs from the manufacturer(from your mail in rebate)money, sell them....make 80 bucks, give you your 20 back, and made a profit, and they reapeat that. It has not caught on over here yet, but I suppose it will..........it is creating a timing difference in the cash flow..............I can remember the cheque (check) runs.........sorting out the big ones...........putting them in the magnetic tape eraser..............used to get you an extra 10 days credit, because the system needed the magnetic numbers :D So they had to process the "failed" items by hand........and they had laid off thousands of staff?
