Windows has never caused me an amazing amount of problems. Of course I get the odd bsod and "illegal (illegal?!) operation" error message but a lot of the problems with the OS come from viruses made by well, guess who? "Hackers" or whatever "they" like to be called.

Maybe it's just me. Am I using Windows incorrectly or something. Oh well :(.

Nice talkin' to someone for a change. I have been spending a lot of time on AI programs on Telnet.

Bill Gates whas a hacker during his teenage years, fixing code after school, and trust me, he has talent working for M$ as well.
The problem is they are a big target, M$ is used by a lot of ppl.
I think marketing ($$$) has more to say about the OS then the technicians.

The ONLY reason i retain windows on my computer is for gameing purposes, that is basicly all windows is good for, and its not very good at that.

I think it's a mix of 'Big bad company' syndrome, combined with a dash of betrayal and a touch of needing a bad guy.

Needing a bad guy.
If there isn't a big-bad-person, the opposition (*nix/Mac) wouldn't be able to complain (at least, small vocal minorities wouldn't be able to) quite as much without seeming inordinately whiny.

Betrayal.
Microsoft made/marketed some neat stuff at first, and then they went and god rich. Shucks. Being the big guy doesn't inspire that much empassioned support.

Big Bad Company.
It's the same reason people make jokes about the government. It's big, monolithic, and people are afraid of the dehumanization inherent within such things... because it leads to poorer community ties. (E.G.: Tech Support, and our favorite Internal Revenue Service.)
