I hope to god this doesnt become a trend.

Well, we know a few things:

1: The kid was 15.

2: The kid was flying a Cessna 172, 2000 model, which carries about 25 gallons in each of the 2 gas tanks with about 4 gallons unusable.

3: He was in McDill AFB airspace for 1 minute, of which they scrambled two (2) F-16's from Homestead (Miami) which arrived 8 minutes later (about 5 minutes after the crash).

4: He was chased (and kept up with) the only other "military" aircraft and that was an unarmed Coast Guard helicopter who were trying to wave him down to land. Too bad it wasn't something like an Apache, which could've reduced his plane to nothing in seconds.

5: The ****er almost ran into another airplane, a SouthWest Airlines 737, which had just taken off minutes prior and was about 1000 feet in the air. Take yourself, sure...but almost taking out other planes with other people who actually WANT to live? Man, that's a burn-in-hell offense. Not that crashing into a building on the 28th floor is any better.


I hope this isn't a trend either, with idiots and "followers" trying to continue the attacks of the 11th or just using it as a coverup trying to get attention. As it is, you can kiss anyone under the age of 18 now flying. Goodbye, thank you, please drive through. That kid's ruined it for other kids trying to learn. Have a nice day. It's over. :mad:

What REALLY gets me going is yet again, this is another "I'm surprised he did it because he was always the quiet type"...**** that noise, I was quiet too in HS but you don't see me doing **** like that. Blame the parents. How can you NOT notice. The Columbine parents are a prime example. You think that by just giving your kid(s) whatever they want will solve everything and that you don't have to spend time with them? Idiots...this is exactly what parents have to look for. Get involved, stay involved, don't be suffocating but sure as hell pay attention to what he/she does and actually give a rat's ass when they DO come to you with a problem. May not be an issue for you but for them it is and it's already hard enough to talk to people, especially parents, about it.

Oh and Terr, smaller planes like that one that was hijacked, can be just as damageing as the larger ones if equiped with bio chemical diseases and ****. Think about what would happen if one of those flew over a large city with 1000s of people and just released some kind of air born disease/plague...

Yeah I know what you mean Phire. The security at big airports has gotten incredibly tight, yet they leave the small ones completely untouched.

Sure a small plane can't do as much damage to a skyskraper as a commercial jet could, but they can still be a threat. A person could easily take a small plane and fly it into a commercial airliner, destroying them both, and killing all aboard the commericial jet.

When I said he had proper security, it means that he has the right to be on the tarmac with the plane, and to even fly it but only with supervision (i.e. an FI). HE broke the rules that have been there for years before him. FWIW I flew when I was 15, it's been in the FAA rule book for years. Oh, and it's perfectly legal for a 12 year old to fly a plane with the correct supervision. I've seen it done plenty of times before. Of course before 9/11 I never heard of someone purposely running a plane into a building.

Do you want extensive background research for every person that flys? How about only 15 year olds? People of Arabic decent? Everyone? No one? It's called mitigation of risk, fool, you might want to look into it. The people that allowed him to fly were following procedures that have been used thousands of times before without these results. This kid was obviously unbalanced and he is to blame for what he did. DON'T blame the FAA, small plane manufacturers, private pilots, rural airports or anyone else. Blame the kid, and possibly even the parents.

So what's your point? The samething can be said about cars, trucks, trains, just about anything. Do you want to keep 15 year olds from riding in cars? How about kids of legal age? Perhaps you want to exclude anyone that is a professed Muslim. Oh my! Look it's some teenager that's driving a car by my house, perhaps he wants to run into my house and kill me and my family :rolleyes: That is knee jerk reaction, and is not going to help this situation.

the only way to prevent this, and other things like it from becoming a trend, is MAKE parents responsibe for the actions of their childern.
every thing under your charge, you are responsibe for, if your dog bites someone or even shits on their property. your responsible. if you car rolls into someone elses, you gotta pay. even if nobody was even near your car.

it must have taken some time for him to develop that twisted state of mind. This kid had to be left totally alone for no one to notice.

if people knew they would get in trouble for the mis-deeds of their kids, things like this couldn't happen.

this was the ultimate attemp to hurt and humiliate someone, his parents, if earlier (and lesser) actions would have caused his parrents pain and shame he probably would have taken them and gotten help in doing so.
