I think M$ are wonderfull.
1. get all markets stitched into using only their products.
2. get all great unwashed masses to beta test flagship products.
now if only we all had that morality, we could all retire!

Laws making software companies liable for hacking
would probably also kill open source.
Read the Free software Foundation's famous
license, and notice the disclaimer NO WARRANTY.
You couldn't publish free software if the laws
overrode that disclaimer.
Don't think it can't happen.
Some places make it illegal to sell a used car
with no warranty, even if the buyer is willing.
Many usable old cars go to the crusher
because they don't have enough market
value to support this gov't imposed "implied warranty"
I say Let The Buyer Beware.
