We talked about this before 3ntropy you cant just copy and paste somebody elses work and claim it as your own.
Dont do it again, please.

WORM stands for Write Once Read Many. It is a program who's sole task is to SPREAD and Multiply and NOT damage the system.
i think the big problem with the distinction between virus and worm (and trojans for that matter)...is that they are rapidly becoming a blended exploit...
worms drop damaging payloads or backdoors and then spread themselves around even more. for most users its a matter of semantics...all they know is...it's baaaad...(well...the ones with half a brain anyway...)...
i think the days where it was important to distinguish between the forms of "infection" are maybe disappearing. the future will bring new and dangerous compound exploits which contain many different types of attacks...we've already started to see this...
[There are other types of programs out there, but those mentioned are the main ones. Hopefully your mind has been exposed to the truth about viruses and you won't be influenced by the media, and hopefully deep six your anti-virus software so that you can increase your system performance. Don t think so!!!!!!!!!!!!
Better a lower system performance THAN NO SYSTEM PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!!
Name of this post should be: HACKERS/VIRUS-WRITERS KNOW THE WEAKNESSES IN YOUR SYSTEM.BUT I ONLY CARE ABOUT SPEED!
DUMB!
Who gave me negs for this crap? That's messed up...this wasn't even my article. Anyways.
Jehnx-Don't feel to bad--I got neg points for this one too.
I guess we were automatically supposed to know 3ntropy didn't write it, and therefore because we liked the article.....we get neg points! ;)
hmm i agree that its hard to distinguish now the diference of viruses and worms.. Back in the good ol MSDOS days.. we can easily separate and identify them from one another.. now, its a bit more complicated. we have programs that acts like a virus though it is really just a worm, or the other way around. I guess virus codes these days are getting a lot more smarter.. though the last time i saw a "dropper" was years ago. i wonder if they still make Droppers now. Dem Droppers are really pain in the arse coz the AV software cant detect them, only the virus they create, and who knows what kind of virus they create.
The hardest one me and my friends encountered so far was a Dropper that spawns or drops Multipartite Viruses.. dang pain in the toochie...
well, i dont know if this really counts as a dropper, but they make downloaders now, which will snag whatever file you want off the web(you can suply website) and run it....thats kinda a dropper
