I`m now using Linux Mandrake 8.2 full version. It`s good. It very easy to configure everything. You can do anything you want(of course you can`t play .exe files), but linux is more safety than windows and from linux you can do bad things :)

I'm about to download 8.2 ... does it have XFree86 4.2 ? Hopefully, because for some reason my Radeon 8500 didn't work with ANY drivers and I couldn't find any free ones on the internet (I used Google...) . We'll see :)
I don't have meuch idea bout Linux but from the past reviews I have read I would say that it has been recommended for newbiews
I've been learning Linux and have Mandrake 8.1. It’s great for Linux newbie’s easy to install and comes with all the software you need. I just wish it would work with my win modem.
