Lindows!

I got $10 on Microsoft... stupid high-paid lawyers :\

I hope Lindows is successful. Michael Robertson and I have something in common.

Common people you think that Microsoft will continue to make products that could run on Lindows. Programmers that work for microsoft could easily change that no problem. Microsoft won't get sued either for this because it was made for Windows, not Lindows. Also the court battle is rediculous but it's true. Lindows does sound like windows, this to me is gurilla bussiness tactics, Anyone who has ever worked for a start up .com should now about these.
For example buying the compettions domain names right when it's time for them to renew them. It's not illegal but it's just dirty tactics.

My thought is the M$ people are afraid of what Lindows is going to do for the Windows family, you see with lindows there can be linux and windows together and this means money out of bills pocket. Bill Gates doesnt want the two OS,s to come together too risky they will loss alot of customers when they find out linux is better. So you see I dont think it has to do with the name at all. Reminds me of the movie Antitrust. Hey Bill you are just pissed you didnt think of it first.

Lindows.com has won the first round in its legal trademark battle against Microsoft.

A Seattle court last week denied Microsoft's motion to stop Lindows.com from using this name for its company and LindowsOS for its new operating system. Worse, for Microsoft, the company may have shot itself in the foot by launching the action in the first place.

In his ruling Judge John C. Coughenour said: "Microsoft has raised serious questions about the validity of its trademark [Windows]."

This may deter Microsoft from further action - any appeal and it could risk having Windows explicitly stripped as a trademark. We shall see.

In the meantime Lindows.com is victorious, and it looks increasingly like our initial assessment of its chances of success were wrong. ®

Looks like Windows is failing this battle, lets hope it stays that way too. :)

So when will Microsoft sue the companies that created the software listed below? They won't, because the products work for MS, not against them. Lindows.com is a MS competitor, this has nothing to do with a name. It has to do with MS having some competition. MS is using the same strategy it used to take over the browser war against Netscape. It's using it's money and it's connections to try to destroy the comptition again.

I hope they lose their trademark on Windows. I remeber this lil' comp store in Pasadena called 'Anything but windows'. It was put out of business by M$ cause they said it used it's trademark without permission. If they lose that trademark I'll bet you that lil' comp store owner will have a lawsuit ready to go.
