yeah their limit is 300*40 and 15k thats smaller than most images and the loading times are fine check the site out its faster than here lol

I think it would be a good idea, if, obviously, there is a size limit. I think that even with a small amount of space, you can create something kool with flash. I would like to see this happen, maybe we can have a trial for a week or two and see what people say and whether the response is positive or negative.

im sorry but i dont think this is anything but a way to keep people with slower connections off the fourms. The fourms ARE about security "most of the time" lol. If we have 50k avatars and **** and lets say 10 post on a page thats 500k for the avatars alone! most dial up users download at 2kps thats 250 seconds or 4.16 minitues to download just the avatars....
its not needed, not even worth testing. if u want pretty art go to a art fourm... we come here for the fourms not the pretty banners.

As for getting a better connection, I would if BT would cut the price of broadband to something reasonable that I could afford (certainly not more than £30/month). Until then, I'm stuck. :(

Well, you may have noticed that I waited a while to respond to this thread. I wanted to give everyone a chance to express their opinions before I made up my mind on this issue.
I've decided not to start using flash on the site, at all. I know many of you were looking forward to the opportunity to use flash, I'm sorry. Here are some of my reasons.
1. Page download time. I work VERY hard to optimize everything possible so that our pages load fast! With dozens and dozens of new posts a day, asking users to wait 2 minutes for a page to load is not acceptable.
2. Page rendering time. This isn't how long a page takes to download, but how long a browser takes to format and display the page. AntiOnline uses nested tables heavily, something that netscape already has a slow time with. Adding flash would require the plugin to initialize, etc. etc. which just adds seconds onto the old load-time ticker.
3. As you may have noticed, I also work very hard to make sure that AntiOnline doesn't require any third-party plugins to view correctly, and to make sure that it is viewable by most all browsers. Flash doesn't fit within that scheme.
