A long time ago, I found a really little tool that can find any AIM passwords on a computer. It worked too, by going into the registry and retrieving some value. Ironically, the program is saved on a cd somewhere.
But the irony just escapes me. I'm feeling loopy too, so I'm not going to attach the file. PM me with a really convincing argument that this is actually your sn and not some script kiddie trick. I will then give you a lecture on remembering passwords and some techniques you can use. Finally, I will ask if your registry is still intact from before the reinstall and then several days later, I will dig out the CD and send you the file. In the meantime, I suggest you get a new sn, and save your buddy list from time to time.

Alcatraz: I have two or three of those same programs, and I am good friends with the orginial maker of an AIM and AOL password restoring utility. However, he said he reinstalled Windows, and you can't retrieve the value from the reg if it is not there anymore, which is what the case is if he truly reinstalled. Therefore, the only method that I know of, unless there is some weird exploit of the AOL central database of passwords server, is to brute force. The program won't work in his case.
