I would have to agree with Apocalypse, last week I whas forced to setup a box running XP against my will.
But what if all you're friends and family know you're the computer guy and you don't know **** about XP? 90% of the world runs windows and will do so for the next 5 years. Besides people don't want a unix based OS, they want plug and play solutions and automatic installers. A linux distro would need the money and programmers like Bill gates has to make a Linux system that can compete with XP.
