anyways what the hell is telnet 4
DOS stands for disk operating system written by T. patterson .
The original name when M/S bought it was QDOS or quick and dirty operating system.
QDOS was/is a scaled down version of CP/M :)
i bet many mac users would agree with the dirty part (macs suk)
why is it called denial of service?
Telnet is a program that allows you to connect your computer with another computer. If you're using Windows (I assume you are) your Telnet interface will look like a Dos prompt. To access your Windows Telnet client click Start, then Run, then type "telnet" in the run box, then click "OK." As a matter of fact, you can run Telnet from a Dos prompt. Just type in telnet and the IP of the computer you want to connect to. If you manage to connect to another system you will have to supply a userid and a password. If you want to learn to telnet, there are tutorials on this site. Dr. Toker gave you one too. Also, go the www.google.com and search for "telnet sites." You will find a list of sites (educational, government, etc) that you can legitimately telnet to. There are also Telnet clients you can get as freeware that will give you a nice Gui (graphical user interface) to work with. Try EasyTerm. Or hunt through freeware sites and find one. There out there.
I would just like to say "thank you" to this divxxx guy for at least not coming on here and asking stupid questions, then leaving. At least, even when he is about to be flamed, he stays with what he wants, and continues to try and learn more. I don't know, maybe I'm dumb or something, but I just think this commendable of an obvious newb... I like 'em better like this.
DOS = Disk Operating System ---> Makes computer useable
DoS = Denial of Service -----------> Shuts down part/all of comptuter
Telnet ----A tcp program used to access remote unix servers. (now some Windows Terminal servers)
warez = A way to waste your time searching for porn, but look like you are trying to find something that you really need.
just curius, how the hell did you come up with the name dixxxripper if you don't know the VERY basics of a computer? Did you put 3 x's because you are encoding divx porn? Do you have the foggest idea what divx is? Or what a ripper is? Or did you just hear the term on TV, so decided to use it?
****, I didn't wanna start flamming, but........sorry
do yourself a favor:
if you are running win2k or xp, find someone with a 9x machine and copy that version of telnet to a floppy and put it on your machine, it'll make life much easier for you.
DOS is not called denial of service.
denial of service (DoS) is an attack on a system where the machine becomes so overburdened with requests or things to handle that the service stops or the computer crashes.
