I never saw "Hackers" Souleman, but from what I understand, you're right about the realism. :)
The same notion falls under the question:
"To BEAT the man, you have to BE the man"
How can a sysadmin, who is the same as a "hacker" (term used extremely loosely), be a criminal?
I've always believed that knowledge is power, yet it seems that the general people are powerless.
A Hacker is a cracker because people are lazy to learn the difference. Try talking to uneducated people and tell them you stopped a script kiddie from *****in with your network.
Which also falls to this....
Hacker=Cracker=Script Kiddie=Virus Scripter=Kiddie Porn Pedofile=etc.....
No matter how you look at it today, the public puts everything together, like social clustering....
If it's the same/similar, they go together.....
It's a battle left alone! Better pick another battle, one with more intelligence invovled. Fighting the dumb only creates more confussion.
I have seen the film and as i have said on this thread, this film it was completely a failure, only some cyberfreaks like it.Quote:

tyger_claw, your post screams of the reason why relativism is evil.
When all things are looked at as being subjective, then nothing can be right or wrong.
Nothing can be true or false.
No thing can be.
Our life falls into meaninglessness, or ethics becomes crap, morals go out the window, and any knowledge we have is invalid.
I hate relativism with a passion.
I hate sloppy logic.
And anyone that argues for relativism, cannot use the word tolerance, because there is no place for it.
p or -p. p and -p. No 50%True, or 35% True. Things are either true, or false, or nonsense.
Equating a sysadmin to a hacker, and then a hacker to a skiddy, and then a skiddy to a pedofile, that leads to madness. It is nonsense. A sysadmin has to get off by looking at pictures of childred being abused? NO.
This is why I think that philosophy should be taught to everyone. People think it is useless, when they babble incoherencies about the world that have the tinge of nihilism, yet they think that they are speaking sense. It has been held that nihilism is the social force which brings civilizations to there knees, perhaps this is where the general populace wishes to go...
This rant is not directed at anyone in particular, just at the world as a whole in a blatant generalization. So even though I fall into fallacy, I AT LEAST KNOW I AM SAYING NONSENSE.
This day has been trying. I apologize for any discomfort my ramblings may have caused listeners who picked up on the rather esoteric mumbo-jumbo that spewed forth from my fingertips.
I must sleep, I have a meeting at 9:30, which means someone thinks that I can function without coffee in the morning, boy have they been misled.

Final opinion about the movies and the confusion about who is hacker and who is craker
After i've read and seen the critics about the movies related with hackers and cracker [source amazon i found the other truth about the films. Films like "Hackers", "Matrix", "The Net", "Swordfish" and many other film that cyberFreaks like are completely fantastic and out of the real [e-]world.
Now, about the confusion between the properties "Hacker" and "Cracker", i agree a bit with rcgreen who said there, but i had the same opinion when i didn't have Internet and i only was listening to the media. So i think that they are going to change there opinion.
Sorry if you can't understand what i've said. Bad english.
