Take cwk9's or linuxcomando's advice, you will get yourself into worse trouble if you really do something... Have you given a minute to this thought? Evil 1337-D00d just haxored something and you got blamed, no one said anything to 1337-D00d. Well, now you go and hack 1337-D00d and do some **** with his account. Now what? Well, someone catches 1337-D00d and blames him for messing around. But what, 1337-D00d says you hate him and "because he hacked something before, he might have done it now again!". 1337-D00d is set free and you're blamed again, this time for a reason.
Go to some hacking site and/or learn to hack something by yourself...
The passwords are saved to the main server of your school and that's somewhat very impossible for you to hack.

LOL ROFL
VOiD >>> DOS and WIN9x do NOT have user based file protection. (Unlike *nix or NT based boxes.)
*nix has user permissions. Therefor in *nix you have: owner / group / all
you can give them read / write / execute permissions. In Win9x you do not have this possibility right out the box. public Win98 boxes with accessible DOS are therefor highly unsecure...
So what you are telling is basicly crap...
First: if member files were stored local then you needed to remember your workstation? LOL
Second: if they are stored on a server, I doubt it is a Win98 box... that would be LOL too
Third: if the files are stored on a central win98 'server' then the client access is given by win shares. That means that all the workstations do have local pwl files for everyone that uses the box, except when the admin deletes them during logon.

VOiD> What would you do if you knew how to gain access to other logins? Do you know who hacked your account? If not, then are you sure you wouldn't end up getting someone else in trouble just like you? IF you know, then report him. Its a lot more effective. Hacking someone elses account always ends up getting you in trouble. I can pretty much guarantee that if you did find out who did this to you, and you hacked their account, they will make you wish that you hadn't.

This doesn't actually fit in the current situation but it's much the same kind of thing: http://www.altgeek.org/methuselah/rtfm/ :D

There's always domain authentication (or some other network authentication such as Novell). Still, with Win9x, there's no reason that it shouldn't be completely bypassable...

Who provides your school network? Is it RM?
It looks like your school computers are as restricted as mine, but there are ways to hace them down to the ground!
Try getting some Admin tools to take down the network, try NetBus (if you're desperate) or try pulling out the network cable to access some other stuff you might find interesting
If all else fails edit the registry
