u don't even need anything that complicated....
cd -> mini disk (still retains cd quality) -> computer :)
when will the likes of sony realise that they can keep on spending millions of pounds on schemes like this one but still a bunch of uni students or peps working out of their parents basements (excuse the stereo-type) will find a way round it :)

I don't know... I think a mini disc and a cd player qualify as "a digital path from cd player to your computer."

You are totally right though. If they would put the money spent on the easily circumvented copy protection into marketing, they would probably be a lot richer.

This whole protection gets cracked thing has been going on for a long time. I remeber when macrovision on VHS tapes first came out.. You were able to buy VCRs that got around the macrovision within a couple of months.

Felt-tip marker? Would have never thought of that. Its amazing, Sony probably spent millions of dollars trying to make this copy-proof CD and then it blows up in their own faces because of a felt-tip marker. The irony!
