this is exactly why security is so important. it is not a matter of keeping your ex-boyfriend from hacking your aol account anymore. this is the age of information, and of course, information warfare. gone are the days of two enemies marching to their deaths on a battle field. everything is accomplished with the use of technology now. to be honest, there really is no need for infantry at all anymore. if we really wanted to go all the way, we could do everything remotely with out risking the lifes of soldiers in man to man battle.Quote:

This is just insane. WTF, would happen if someone got in, and changed stuff around. Soon we'd be killing our own people. And the less hi-tech enemy would prevail.
yes it could be very tragic if someone were to hack that system. this is why the .gov is so strict with letting other countries, even our allies, to have advanced technology. this is why they got so scared when they realized other countries were purchasing playstation 2's because they could create computers with the processors. the .gov has amazing technology and networks out there that if they were to get compromised by an enemy could lead to catastrophic events not just for the usa, but everyone. i really think that they should really learn how to use this tech before they start depending on it in battle. i mean come on.... what are these systems running? you know it is not *nix. they do not have time or resources to train all these fresh soldiers in *nix. no doubt it is windows. a country controlled by bill gates is a doomed one.
Why do they need to make this information that accessible? Isn't there another way to share intelligence besides making it accessible remotely? All I can say is I hope this government has some awesome admins, and even that won't stop an exploit you don't know about.
tedob did you write all that? Heh... you should write war novels or somethin :p
ha ha! no kidding...Quote:
"this area is confusing, everything looks the same," he thinks. the soldier requests a map from home base. 430 NOT FOUND. dammit. just then, the vid screen the soldier was looking at turns an evil shade of blue. Small white letters pop up on the screen FATAL ERROR. "No kidding," sighs the soldier as bullets riddle his now unfunctional mobile suit. it was a Fatal Error to ever get into that suit.Quote:

on another note, anyone seen the movie "Toys" with Robin Williams? give me the game.... i figure anyone over 18 and into gaming should be able to take out an approaching army pretty easily. a few robotic exoskeletons, some mini choppers with missles and mini tanks? now THAT would be fun. i'd sign up.
I personally dont think that some script kiddie could use some lame tool like legion or something and get our own soldires to kill each other. I say this because you will always have the dr.strange love threat, in dr.strange love a crew of airforce bombers were packing a nuke and they got a false go ahead and then went and nuked Moscow. Now that could very well happen in the future but now....i dont think so.
hmmm all built around windows 2k
lol i would love to know what os they are running
fr0stbyte i didnt write the second one, that's a quote from the link RaDIaToR52 posted. this is what the people at MIT are working on.
Acutually if you go to the link I provided they show the tents filled with laptops, and from the look of it, they are running windows 2k.
