Well said souleman. Think to yourself before you perform an illegal hack, is it really worth not being able to use a computer for like 5 years? If you do this for knowledge or challenge, and patch the hole, clear your logs, and do nothing else, honestly thats fine with me.
Here's my question...
What do we call those who know what they're doing, (i.e. hackers) but combine their skills with proggies (like the Kiddiots would use?)
It scares me what some 13 year old who is a comp savant could manage with this combination - brains and brawn. (shudders)
Script hackers? Khackers? Kid Crackers? I dunno... it's about 30 degrees Celcius in this room, so I'm not thinking so great ;)

I am not so sure some 13 year old kid with that many brains would resort to scripts other than to modify to use in his/her current "0-day spl0it." You do pose a very good question, and I am kind of wondering myself if that does exist. I like your term "Khacker." heheQuote:

Almost everyone that acually exploits other systems uses scripts at one point or another. Does a unix guru not run nmap while looking at a system. And maybe traceroute to map the network? And do they actually exploit the system by hand, or do they write a script to do it? Well, I guess that would depend on the person, but it is VERY rare that anyone hacks without using any scripts. So that person would still be a hacker/cracker/whatever (not going to get into the hacker vs cracker discussion).
At least that is my opinion. Here is a question for you SSJ. Would you consider me a hacker even though I have never compromised a server that I didn't have permission to? And the few times that I have done it were during security audits, so I used script kiddie tools to exploit the system, to show that anyone could do it that knew how to search the web. This is your question in reverse.
