Hmmm, bad stuff, good stuff? I think it really depends on they way that people choose to use programs/exploits. I mean, in theory you could even use an "email bomber" to help test the durabilty of your email service if you wanted to (though I doubt this has crossed many people's minds). What is an email bomber if not a program that automates the mass sending of emails to an address. It depends on what the user decides to do with the tool.Quote:
astalavista.com is good but it does have lots of tools for bad stuff like mail bombers and stuff. I like the news ticker going along the top, funny news on there. There are also some good tutorials on there aswell. Worth a look if any body is interested.
Same goes for exploits. They can be used for cracking purposes or to help make an application more secure. It's up to the user. Unfortunately, people seem to prefer using tools to cause mayhem rather than doing something positive. I hope this doesn't sound too much like a "Guns don't kill people. People kill people." argument but the responsiblity really does lie on the user.
If not for sites like Packet Storm, a lot of exploits might not get the attention that they deserve and a lot of buggy programs could go for years without anyone fixing them. Meanwhile these programs are vulnerable to attack from evil h4><0rs. I think that network security people probably get as much out of sites like these as crackers/hackers do. Personally, I have no problem with these sites. The kiddies usually aren't smart enough to cause any really damage anyway ;).
Blame redgore for that. It's hosted on his servers, so my website uptime is mirrored on his sleeping patterns.
