i have an oem version of win98se i check for up dates every week.
Do you know if the problem originated shortly after updating Windows?

i updated on friday and the problen has been sin ce monday of last week and i haven't instal nothing new.
What about uninstalling it, clearing out any remanents of it in your registry and restarting the computer and reinstalling it (restarting after the install, to ensure the registry's updated properly)? There may be some registry key causing problems. Or, do you have an older version that you could try installing to see if that has the same problem?

I HATE LANGuard lol but i like it.
lol Is there another program with the same capabilities you could use? I'm not that familiar with LANGuard, personally, but I'm sure there must be some pretty good competative products.

i don't know anyother program that has the same features and runs on a win98 box
it detects shared files, open ports, os detection, cgi scanner, and many other features .
try uninstalling, then reinstalling, and make sure it dosnt perform DOS testing, or it will flood out anything that could be.

looking into that error a bit I would start looking at running progs. (access violation sounds to me like multiple progs fighting for the same mem. address etc.) I would suggest doing these steps.
Run Adaware (www.google.com, adaware) and remove any and all spyware.
do a virus/trojan scan.
using ctrl-alt-delete- close everything but explorer and systray.
try running languard.
if it STILL fails, uninstall it, reinstall it, make sure nothing is running as in above, and try running it again. if THAT dont work, well something is really screwed in your OS/registry.
good luck !
