I work from home...
I can run my entire business via VNC on my PocketPC...
I spend a MINIMUM of 16 hours a day (usually nearer 18) getting a VDU tan...
I buy my groceries online...
I have four dressing gowns...
I havn't left the house in over a month...

I would spend most of my days infront of the workstation, but I'm a busy person. I lifeguard at the pool, so I'm getting a tan... Too bad I won't be seeing many AOers over here in Japan... After I find out how much my Internet bill is (from my ke-i-ta-i (cellphone), of course), I might consider visiting AO on the move. If it costs too much for the data, I might try my best to convince JP to make a smaller version of this site for mobile users. That would be the day. Getting an hour-long sun/LCD-tan replying to something, when I could have gotten an equivilent 30 second CRT-tan at home.

i'm not sure of the mood of this thread. somehow when i read oldguy's message i get something different that the other's interpretation or motivation for reply anyway; maybe it's just my personal experiences plaguing my memories.

my s/o has proclaimed I need a bit more sun and fun, as long as i bring her along, so yesterday we went for a putt on the scooter
It was a lot more enjoyable than trying to figure out some of the crypto puzzles posted by other anti's
what i need to do is find a balance in my new life( this all started when a surgeon told me I was lucky to be walking and it won't last) but hey at least there is someting better that staring at the walls

Ahh, I remember the old days...
Using IRC whilst connecting through DOS. Staying online for days at a time during summer break. The desk littered with mountain dew cans and sandwich crusts. Your eyes glazed over so bad your parents say they can see screen burn when they look at you. Realizing you don't need lights in your room...the CRT and modem lights provide enough light. Any more and you'll probably go blind...hell the last trip to the fridge for another sandwich actually hurt your eyes.
I know them well. Now I do it 8am-5pm during the week. After that I dont' want to even SEE PC's...

I still have 20#s of 5 1/4 floppys with apps i'v written and the original copy of rogue (my pops wrote it in 1977 { i think it was 77} )
my epson q16 has 4megs of ram and a 8082 chip
But sadly I missed out on the begining of the web thing, too busy trying to feed the kids and the old epson would not take a modem

LOL oldguy, those days are as old as they get for me.
My first PC was a dell, so you can tell how late into the game it was before I started. Still, most of the script kiddies and other web morons didn't connect till win95, so at least I got a head start on them.
Did program basic on an old 386 on 5 1/4's in high school...that's what started me on getting a PC in the first place. Well, that and Oregon Trail on the old Apple IIe, hehehe.
Now those days are well passed, my home PC collection consists of a Dell 200mhz, Packard Hell 133, and my Toshiba 900mhz laptop with wireless NIC. Of course, it's not so I can hang out by the pool and surf...it's for those times where you really need to check your email while you're shaving. When I first moved into my house I thought it was BAD ASS that I had a phone jack in the bathroom...now that I have wireless I don't know how people lived without phone jacks every 10 feet.
I spend most of my days in front of the screen too. I'm really not sure if I should smile or frown at that notion. *sighs* I need a life...
On a brighter note, I will be running cat5 in the house this weekend lol. 2 plugs in every major room! One for data and one for phone.
