An iso file is not executable. I use them quite a bit. I actually never use a .rar file, and if I get one, I immediatly throw it away. Same with ace files actually. I just use .zip or .tar.gz files.
Anyway, did you say that it was executable? If so, it wasn't an iso file, because those can not be executed. You probably have your explorer set to hide known file types, so the file appears to be file.iso, but it is actually file.iso.exe, in which case it is either a trojan or a virus. Time to get to work cleaning up your system...
Because ISO's preserve the media's attributes, ie, being bootable.....Quote:
Why make it unnecessarily difficult? It's like me sending you a password protected archive, but not giving you the password even though I know it.... Why would I do that? It'd just make things harder, and waste time.....Quote:

Either way, we are wasting our time discussing the why's and what-not's, because without knowing what it was supposed to be an ISO of, we have no idea....
i guess but wot i meant why store it as a ISO why not directly store it as ACE(cuz compression in Ace format IS better than Zip as is RAR)
It could be an ISO that is compressed in a executable.... all the code required to extract the file built in.. nice and tidy... I've gotten quite a few ISO's like that....
