Sorry, so many replies came in to this thread all at once =) I missed a couple of questions...
DjM : I use a modem for the internet but I don't have set for auto - answer or anything, I don't think it's actually possible on my phone line. Though I'm not sure, If I had received a phone call, would a pop-up or something not come up or something in the systray?
jehnx : I don't think so =) I'd just got up, I wasn't tired or anything.

Just a note: I don't have any answering type service or anything installed on my comp, but i can still here the voices on it. Try enableing the speakerphone in the advanced controls of the master volume program and turn up all the volumes. Then put on your headphones, and make a call. See what happens

Yea, your right, I am likely off track on the modem thing, unless, somehow you picked a freaky connection that day. I think Tiger & GG are likely on the right track.
Cheers:

lol i htink it may be some freak think with frequencies :)...but it probably is as GG said some banner or so

I think xmaddness is on to the right answer. You're probably picking up an occasional radio wave through your speaker. It's pretty common in high RF zones. You may just be picking up everything bleeding over from a very frequency, so you're only catching bits and pieces. I get that occasionally when this security guard drives bye. Weird stuff. Scares the hell out of me late at night. :D

either RF interference as mentioned above or mabee its the MP3s. if you reply them do they have the voice again? mabee somebody made an MP3 recording with the mic of his computer against his radio and realised that he was talking while it was recording......? you probly already thought of that tho or atleast would have listened to the MP3 again so thats probly not it.......hmmmmmm freeky tho

yeah, RFs can cause some weird stuff, like audio bugs tend to cause snow on televisions. I had one just as weird happen to me, I was out in my garage playing guitar, when I heard somone talking on my amp, and there was no way anyone was hooked up with a microphone, cause I only have one input on it and I was using it. Turns out somehow it was picking up a German radio station.

Sub7 can do that. I'm sure otehr trojans can too.
<joke>Maybe, your just skitizfrenic. lol j/k</joke>
Yeah, those kazaa voices freaked me out too when I didn't know what they were.

Prankster, did you ever figure out what it was?

What you have heard is a sort of disturbance caused by your equipment, you can listen sometimes to radio stations.
In Holland the Philips monitors with built in speakers sometimes (out of nowhere) start picking AM radio stations. It freaks out some people.
I had the same thing with my Labtec equipment few years back.
Nothing to worry about :)
