I am no MS suckup

Well years ago in the Nix enviro things were pretty hard, and anyone that was around a mainframe and had to set up things for different depts can appericate Windows from the fact it took much of the day to day load off IS. Basic flaw I see in M$ is the same thing about 1990 where you work and everything was controled by IS you had well a basic dumb terminal, they just want to take it back to the same spot only thing time they want to control it or other large corp's that are each day making it cost me whom I work for public domain property and claim they have a right to charge us for it. I use M$ products why? I could not run programs I use daily, Photoshop, Bryce, Poser, a host of programs not ported to Linux, work wise there are called contracts and specs and none say Linux. Like M$ and Billion Dollar Bill nope live with them I must that is reality.

Hehe, yay, finally some pro MS people have come out and voiced their opinion and in a positive thread too. Rare. I would post my feelins but I got blasted for 'em last time so I'm hesitant to post 'em again. But if ya want, you can check out what I got blasted for at this thread

We could always give you negs here. :) Just kidding of course. However, it's probably in your best interest to stop talking about negs. I think this is like the third post I've seen from you today talking about getting negs from people. If you're not careful, you'll start sounding like JRoc. Negative finally giving us the respect we deserve. By the way, I really dont like those MS bashing linux newbies either, I prefer those who bash microsoft and know what the hell they are talking about.

Who is JRoc?

Do we that provide main stream computing needs like M$ answer is NO the license issue is a daily concern, not to have to stand on the carpet (American Term means you have to explain to owners why you spend your budget like you do) and then further explain how at any given point in time the EULA can change, like maybe a security patch. I do not see main stream programs ported yet to Linux. I have bulked at M$ latest license terms and hope in two years Linux will be ported in that what 94% desktop enviro and contract terms. If not I bet wrong and Billion Dollar Bill and M$ will just wait it out. Negative entire object of being mainstream is you have a majority of respect, one becomes a target, easy to aim a gun fire it many in the M$ community work to preserve what all of computing is about the power of one person to make life better for others.

Comes down to layers of the web OS any OS should be transparent, application layer is another story.

I tinker in GNU/linux occasionally, but I usually can't play with it for more than two hours before I get bored or frustrated. Usually when I install linux, I am immediately (first few days) confronted with an obscure error which most people can't help me with for some reason. (Such as LRs-Linux starting up in the wrong keyboard mode, and even when I find the right combination of keys to hit, loadkeys won't work and gives a strange reason...)

That, and there are less games.

Windows, as an OS, isn't *bad* per se, but my impression is... <drumroll>

People Hate Microsoft more than they Hate Windows

Microsoft keeps bungling along with monopolistic practices, lies to the government (faked tapes), hidden items in EULAs (recent Media Player agreement said they could install stuff on your computer.), and in their too-agressive marketing ("If you buy the OS, you HAVE to get these OTHER MS-only services...").

That, and the open-source-ness of GNU/Linux is actually not that useful for the average user, who may or may not know how to compile things and to get it working in their own fracticious version of libraries etc. And most of that source code is probably hard to understand even when sporadically commented...

Anyway, just tossing out my "what they really hate" idea there.

Id have to agree its more the company than the product that people SHOULD slate. I use windows for many things but i tend to stick in linux because i like using it. I never force my opinion on anyone unlike others (looks at etsh911/nnn) If people dont want to use windows so be it. If people dont want to use linux they dont have to. Im more against the company than the products they produce. Things such as bedning the EULA bending laws etc
