I have heard that you can still use the upgrade cd to do a full install, the installer just asks for a previous version of windows cd whist you are installing to check you actully own windows, then it just installs ok, Never tried this but it might be some help
cheesegoduk, you are correct. I have done complete installs on two new home built pc's without a hitch. The installer askes early on to insert the cd from a previous version of windows and once it has been verified, it askes for the XP cd again and installs normally.
How did this thread become a thread about upgrading? He never even said that he upgraded, but everyone took the cue from KissCool that it *might* be an upgrade. I agree with Joey... we try to help him figure out how to solve the problem, because reformatting and reinstalling can bring a whole new series of problems. Everyone's solution nowadays is "format... it'll work then" Sometimes, that's the only solution, but in this case, it should be quite easy to fix once we know what's causing the problem.

Outforjustix > Why not? I've been able to play all of the Rainbow series games on my XP Pro machine. If you have problems playing it normally, try setting the compatibility mode to Windows 98 (go to the properties of the executable and change it).
