-> It's nothing strange, or shady, but if you took the time to READ the accompanying information, you'd see that the original etam that DESIGNED Tiny Personal Firewall LEFT TINY SOFTWARE and made their own company, Kerio. The two products will slowly migrate apart, as Tiny seeks to head more toward a shareware/pay firewall, and Kerio seeks to keep it FREE.
-> All you had to do was read a little. I commend you on the research, but if you read the website itself, you'd have had the whole story.

Yeah, I figured that was what it was after I posted. Sorry about coming to conclusions too fast. Afterwards, I thought "Hey, maybe it was two friends who designed one, and they spit, and one took a copy, and made his own firewall." Shows how intuitive I am at the wrong times.

[B]Is it a new version of Tiny Personal Firewall?
It looks to me like a rip of Tiny. The startup screens are too similar, it scary.
**This just in.
I am looking at the two installer files. If you look at the info on them,
File Names: kerio-pf-214-en-win.exe Vs. pf2.exe
Size: Kerio: 2.05 MB Vs. Tiny: 1.35 MB
File Version: SAME, 2.11.15.0
Company: Kerio Technologies Vs. Tiny Software
File Version: No version on Kerio Vs. 2.00 on Tiny
Internal Name: SAME, stub32i.exe
Language: SAME, English (United States)
Original File Name: SAME, stub32i.exe
Product Name: Kerio Personal Firewall Vs. Tiny Personal Firewall
Product Version: No version on Kerio Vs. 2.00 on Tiny
I don't know who ripped off of who, but this is definitly messed up. I don't want to know who is the a$$ who stole the program, but they did a very complete job of it.
The help files are practially identical. Kerio includes theirs in the installation, and the Tiny one is avalible online. There is one small difference.
Tiny offers the option to start the firewall as a service from the registry or start it up manually. Kerio does not.
Dialogs in the program are identical, menus are too.
This program is a high quality rip. I would say that Kerio did the ripping, because Tiny just released a new version of their firewall, 3.0. I wouldn't be suprised to see a new version of Kerio soon, with all the same properties.
I did a little more research, a WHOIS check on www.netsol.com.
This is definitly strange. Maybe someone has a history on these two companies that can backup this information, an prove me wrong. I am sick.. I hate people who rip other's work.
Hi
Kerio firewall is the following product of one of the ex-programmer from tiny. tiny firewall 2.0 was not to developed anymore ( see tinyfirewall 3.0! ). one of those programmers left the company and created the kerio firewall based upon the tiny programm code . I tried the kerio as well, I instantly deleted it, it was very unstable. im my opinion, the tiny firewall is still one of the best application firewalls, unfortunately no upgrades anymore... looks like this is the normal situation for very good freeware programms. its too good lets ditch it...
