I read about this here last night, and today the team took a vote, we opted for Nerf Weapons!!!
However the rest of the company took a "you're taking the Micky right??" approach
Oh well, off to buy my own Nerf gun at the weekend.

Hah, gifts are such a rarity it's not even funny. Today, we had a global meeting for the entire IT department and they actually acknowledged the *two* unix admins on-site for the work done for the RP8400 minidomes in Dallas (me and one other guy)...and someone said "We really do have unix admins?". I just laughed.
Great stuff!

Apparently office closed doesn't apply to IT staff... The only time you get to move a server room, re-structure the network, move servers to new hardware is when the office is closed... And then when you manage to take a week and a half off, you still have to remotly update/patch the servers and check in (remotely of course) once in a while to make sure everything is fine...
So you see, I get the work without the acknowledgments because the rest of the office is closed...
