I'm not sure what you're talking about, but since the Taliban regime in Afghanistan (not 'Afghanatstan') has fallen, a transitional authority under leadership of premier Hamid Karzai rules the country. Not only has Karzai been chosen by parlement, he also keeps a relative peace in the much tormented country, and is allied to all those that oppose terrorism.
If, on the other hand, you're referring to the Taliban: Yes, they were supported by the western world, the US in particular, but that was because they fought the Russian conquerors, then cold-war opponent of the United States. As far as I know, they delivered weapons to the Taliban (amongst other tribes and groups) to fight off the Russians: that they seized power after that war, was not the ultimate goal.
The latter is to what I was referring. My point was that just because someone else is in power, or we put someone in power, doesn't mean that it will necessarilty be for the better. I hope the new Afghanistan (I typed it right this time) govt operates better than the last, but anything can happen.

I'm only scared because our government is so desperate to start a war with them that they'll MAKE a reason to start a war. If you catch my driff you know what I mean. For instance, they might setup something (attack, etc) and blame Iraq and put them in it, thus causing a reason to start a war. Personally, I want us to take out Iraq.

All the world see's is DUBYA following in Daddys foot steps. Granted, Hussien is prolly the biggest supporter of Terrorism against America, but I would hate America if I were him. I mean we already kicked his ass before. It seems he didnt learn his lesson. The world doesnt want us to invade IRAQ. I dont blame them. It wasnt there Trade Towers that got smashed, and its not their DAILY battle in the streets. But Wait. Eventually the terrorists will get to them as well. Then They will know how we feel. Then after that, we can put those RED TAKS to use.
I dont think we should invade any country unless there is SOLID proof that has been presented to the world, of the leaders ties with Al-Quida and or Terrorism.

A little correction...
The Taliban was not supported by the US in the fight against the Soviet Union in the 80's. In fact, The Taliban
was a development after the Soviets had pulled out, and to my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong) there was
no direct U.S. involvement with them. There _was_ American support for the mujaheddin(sic) , which roughly
translates as "freedom fighters". Most people may either remember this from either news reports (even when
I was a kid I was a news-junkie) or from that Rambo movie, either III or IV, I can't remember.

No sense in giving negs out it is a valid thread and open exchange of ideas. To be specific zaddikim your information is correct. However there was a humm to use a military term of the US a point man, not a pretty job but in fact the US did supply Osman with wepons, and techlology whaile he was a mujaheddin as you put it. What the US did not think of cause at the time of this support it was to fight the commies as the US put it "Red Manence". This man has his sature among his supporters becuase of US support during that time. He in turn used it against us. My point being another example of the US supporting the wrong person and people suffered because of it and the human rights abuse he would never had come to power if he did not get our CIA and US support. Off the top of my head not from watching the news but from living at the time. Look around this day you live in I others all over the world tomorrow is history, remember it well at the end it will be called your life :)

in 1991 we were within inches of defeating / overthrowing / ousting / killing Saddam and we stopped. GWB2 is now insisting on making up for his father's mistakes, using the war on terror as a front. If we really had a reason to go after Saddam, it wouldn't be for weapons of Mass Destruction (since we have more than they do anyways..) it would be for the terrible human right's violations in his country, and his record of not caring about his people.
Like I said, IF we had a reason.

I agree, GWB2 is just trying to justify having bought his way into office, and by staying at "war", justifying the removal of constitutional rights and personal privacies.
Did you hear about the screeners at one of our airports not letting a pilot carry lunch onto the plane for the crew? The chief pilot went back to protest at the checkpoint, and found the guards eating the pilots lunch! Federal employees, don't you know...... :fpissed:
