Even so, besides the detrimental effects upon family members, what could make a person's life so horrible that they would choose to go out like that? Even if I were highly intoxicated and wanted to end my life, I couldn't step over the fence knowing that I was going to be chewed up and it would be painful. I wouldn't want to jump out of an airplane without a parachute to feel the smack as I hit the ground, or inject myself with a flesh eating virus that would kill me over time.

This is so horrible... *frowns*

I feel horribly for the family, but more so for her. There must be so much we don't know that would cause a person to end their life in that manner, such a horrible death, yet all we know is of a husband. Maybe it was a mental thing, or cultural. Like in Japan with hari kari, an honorable death. But, I've never heard of such a thing like this. So painful until the end. Not even a person who doesn't want to live their life should go out like that.

Well, She didnt cry or scream so you know that
1) She was pumped full of drugs or
2) She had some serous problems

Just to let you people know! (And you know who u are! ! !) I didn't say suicide was FUNNY damnit. My best friend killed himself. I was just posting an article I thought you people would find interesting.

The worst part about a person's suicide is not the actual suicide but the people left behind. They are overcome with grief, and often guilt. When someone close to you commits suicide, you wonder if there was something else you could have done, some sign you missed.

Often the person commits suicide without thinking it through and the family and friends likely couldn't have done anything. But it doesn't change the devastation it leaves behind.

Once you are dead, you're dead. It is the people whom are left behind that take over the suffering.

Making suicide is a big sin! But it is the ultimate solution to refuse responsiblities. Person commit suicide, are actually coward!
Life is to enjoy, remember that u've past away the problems on earth but you cannot refuse to face GOD's ponishment.

I once made an essay (or something) about suicide at school in Philosophy of life lessons. Unfortunately I have no idea about where it might be now. :( I remember adding some web links, one was an about 50 pages long "tutorial" about committing suicide, guess it was made out of some alt.suicide messages. It was like "jump from a bridge, not a skyscraper, because you can fall on someone and kill them too".

Btw, GG, I don't think you would feel the smack after falling from a plane...

I think drowning would be the worst way to die...

That depends....we run on energy, energy cannot be destroyed, but can change form, energy has mass therefore it has weight, if you want to look it up you will find that at the exact moment of death a corpse loses weight proportional to the energy that that body would contain....

I hear that it takes several minutes do die after a drowning, you know you are dead before you die, and have plenty of time to "see it" --chills--

I still dont understand the mindset. I mean, I have been through some pretty shitty times in my life, but I have never reached a level that made me think that the only way out was to end it. To be so desperate... so depressed, that you need to end it all? And, by throwing yourself into a croc pen? I dont know... Where was this woman's family/ friends? There had to be signs of depression. She could have gotten help IF she wanted it. Zoloft/ Prozak are wonderful drugs for depression(yes, that is taken from experience) maybe if she sought out help....

Of course you would feel the smack after falling from the plane. There have been people that have survived thousand of feet falls from airplane collisions and parachute mishappenings. (Even filled full of drugs, there would be sensation, unless you were unconcious)

It's not like on television when you're in a commercial airliner and somehow they get the door open. A.) It's not possible at that altitude and pressure B.) You would literally freeze dry if you could and your body would shatter from the speed.

Suicide is not funny. My uncle shot himself in the head when I was a little girl. And the reaction of his son, my cousin, was to try and do the same, because he didn't understand why his father left him and he thought it was okay to do so also.

My comment was based around the question, that if you're trying to end your life, why inflict more pain, when the object of suicide is to obviously end it? My only conclusion to why there was no screaming was that it was either muffled so quiet any spectators couldn't hear, or her neck was snapped, something sudden after the plunge.

Off the topic: Interestingly enough, I read an article a while back on drowning. While it is painful, one of the most painful deaths besides burning, the most painful part is your lungs filling up with water, but once you've reached equillibrium, granted you're still alive, it's supposed to be the most peaceful feeling ever. Now, how someone found that out, I have no idea. I doubt anyone who had their lungs filled up with that much water survived to tell the tale. *shrugs*

I would also like to reply that antidepressants don't work for everyone. Some people don't feel the need to seek out help, they feel as if they can handle problems on their own. Such is the case in anorexia, where the patient feels they're taking matters into their own hands to lose weight. It's rare that they actually are the first to admit their problem. It's usually up to a bystander or family member to get them help. She was probably showing signs of her depression, but the severity of showing those signs had to depend on her personallity when she wasn't depressed. If she was a quiet, reserved, secretive person on her own before the depression, it may have been hard to see any signs.

Prozac and such drugs are not given out to just solve the problem, there is a lot of cognitive behavoral therapy to replace the bad habits/thoughts that the patient has. It sounds as if, in her mind, she was doing what was best. Even though, in the end it turned out to be an awful tragedy.
