This is really insane! What has the world come to?? Does the world have bigger and better things to worry about than having the Greek Nintendo Police arrest your kid for playing Super Mario Bros while rapers, murderers and drug dealers plague every part of the globe?
I mean think about it. Millions and millions of people play games, and have done so for centuries. It's so ingrained in our lives it will be impossible to enforce. It's like saying they want to outlaw sex in fear it will breed rapists.
/me throws up hands in disgust and makes sure never to move to Greece

I don't imagine this will last too long. They will realize the amount of money that is generated from the gaming population, especially with the release of PlayOnline and the ever popular Final Fantasy series that's about to go global and multi-platform. There have been so many advances in the gaming world in just the past couple of years it would be ignorant not to share in the profits of all that it has become. I'm sure that after some serious financial consideration, they'll change their minds.
It's not easy being green.... *rubs off her olive skin and hides in fear of a gaming mob*

I would hope that something like this would never last. This is a good idea of a bad idea getting worse. Fines from 5,000 to 75,000 euros and imprisonment up to 12 months. I would like to think that when this goes to the European Court next week, that this whole mess will go away. go to www.gameland.gr to help protest this.

Attempting to ban games on that wide of a scale is a set of laws that would be unenforcable across a population of any reasonable size. Where is the article that states this? Maybe we are misinterpreting something in the original wording...

Greek Government issued a new law in order to prevent gambling; a law that would forbid slot-machines and the like... they did not issue a specific law banning all computer games... unfortunately, they don't know the difference and the law turned out to be so broad that computer games also are included...
