Another AP modification (seriously again!)

Interesting idea. I do like the asymmetry of signing depending on the type of AP. Signed negs would have more impact than unsigned ones, and unsigned positives would have less effect than anonymous ones.... There's just one problem.

The positive AP issue won't be workable. People will just put in something which identifies them but does not contain their name in a plain manner. They're either put in (example) "V o r l i n" or "--Vrln" or "My Sig Here" or "URL to my profile here" or something. It is certainly possible to penalize unsigned, but not possible to penalize signed ones, given the way that you have to match things.

The negative signing scheme sounds good, but the positive one is unenforceable.

If this DOES get implemented, however, I feel it would be worthwhile to add in a few features. Such as being able to assign less than full amount, and also to have the system do signing in such a way that a user cannot spoof a negative by another user by simply typing in their name.

If I could be bothered searching through the countless AntiPoint threads I'd stumble across a post by JP that says something like "dont get in the habit of signing your name" or something like that....


Seriously, who gives a flying **** who assigned points? The only reason I can see for wanting to know who assigned you points is for revenge. Simple as that....</rant>

Im not sure about wanting this implimented.... but i think that the user should HAVE to post on the thread in order to give APs... that way they arent just dissing/praising your post theya re giving feedback.... also help eliminate the abuse of APs

F***in AntiPoints... It's well beyond me to understand such a thing...i gave up a long time ago in regards to trying to change it. The AP system is JP's WILLPOWER, no more, no less... deal with it or leave: this site answers to random user power...use its 'accessories' (AP) or don't...all in all, the creator is God here...stop bitching and live within or without...you can't change His opinons or ideas...

Well said, Dome. Admittedly it would "compromise" the anonymity factor somewhat as it provides a short list of people who can assign AP's to a post, but it would definitly curb abuse for that very same reason. For that matter, if whether or not you post in a thread limits the punch you pack could help curb the damage caused by such abuse.

*sigh* Yet another reason why I should stop posting like countless others have. Nowhere in my initial post did I EVER say "I'm not complaining about APs BUT..." or anything to that extent. I offered an idea, opened the door for suggestions on said idea, and instead, I get flamed, negged for either stating an opinion OR by posting "confusing" stuff. That's the reason I posted again (with suggestions/ideas/thoughts about other posts on this thread) saying things like 'Whoever negged me for blah blah blah'. If they have the fscking right to do that, then I have the fscking right to post on it, right? Or is it like the "justice" system where the criminal has more rights than the victims? Seems that way to me and damn, what was I thinking offering another idea on something? It had nothing to do with them HAVING to sign their name but altering the weight of negatives/positives and for some people to say that this was a good idea, that tells me that others are thinking along those lines but ****, I'll back off from the Idea Pool and just lurk like every other person does. God forbid anyone mention the "AP" word, which now that I think about it, rhymes with "JP". Yeah, he's the creator of all of this and his word goes. Guess that ends that thought process.

And what the hell pissed off SOME of the posters in here?

Uh yeah...realize how many times people have done the negative points thing because they thought someone was "bitching", "whining", "complaining"...etc etc...

Maybe it's different in your country, CK, but in America, you have to DISCLAIMER EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET from hot coffee at McDonald's (woman sued because she had coffee between her ****in' legs and spilled it, getting third degree burns, then claimed it was "too hot and not labeled as such" or some ****), to wet floors on all aisles, to ESRB rating tags on all game racks, etc etc...that's why that line was there. All my complaints came after that and if you're looking for an "easy target", why pick an idea post? There are countless other threads out there a lot more useless than this one. I just love it when I try to post a legit idea and people think it's fun to pick apart...great job.
